[ 20-05-2009 ] The fund has taken part in the conference, the Moldavian statehood devoted to the 650 anniversary

On May, 20 a scientific conference on the 650th anniversary of the formation of the Moldavian state took place in Chernivtsi (the Chernivtsi National University).

The survey squad of the project "The Dniester as a Territory of Life" cooperated with the project new scientific advisors – Michael Chuchko and Bogdan Bodnaryuk. Moreover, some preliminary agreements on participation in the project of scientists from Poland, Austria, Hungary and Romania have been reached with the representatives of the Chernivtsi National University.

Their participation in the project assumes consultation on the existing historical and cultural heritage resulted from mutual relations between such powerful empires of the modern times as Austria-Hungary, Russia or the Ottoman Empire.

"The presence of different political forces on this territory has reflected in the ethnic mixture, townscapes and mental architecture of the local population. The experience of permanent contacts between different cultures lets us use this unique heritage nowadays. Therefore, such programs as yours allow to dras public attention to some less known pages of our history that contributes to the comprehension of the common cultural heritage instead of its separately taken components" - one of the project scientific advisors Bogdan Bodnaryuk declared.

At present it is difficult to imagine that there were times when the blossoming cities of Eastern Poland, Austria-Hungary, Russia or the Ottoman Empire were situated on the Dniester bank. For all these empires the cities were located in the outlying districts, however they were of much importance in trade and political dialogue.
