In spite of the rich past and uniqueness of the land between the Prut and the Dniester rivers, in spite of attractiveness of its historical, ethnographic and natural and landscape zones for international tourism, as well as interest as such, Moldova still remains hardly noticeable. Even its own citizens do not give their country a high score. For some of them, many places of interest and facts of their past come as a sheer surprise...

«Discovery of Bulgaria» Project

Excavations on the settlement Ruino – Kartal-kale (2000-2002) discovered ruins of a very interesting fortress dated by the First Bulgarian Kingdom. Its walls by their strength are second only to fortifications of a capital, and the inner quarters are the widest ones of the so far discovered. After two terrible fires, connected with wars of the Kiev knyaz Svyatoslav and invasion of the Petchenegers, the population was forced to leave this locality forever.

Any national idea requires a mirror to see itself and make a correct assessment of itself. This mirror is the world. One looks into it not out of mere narcissism and not out of idle curiosity, but rather because it is fair. We want to see ourselves in it — the way we are, rather than the way our foes, yes-men and candidates to masters want to depict us...

THE DNIESTER. RIVER CHRONICLE
Even the Greeks thought these lands were full of mysteries. For them it was the end of the earth and only some of the very courageous travelers would go there. The Greek historian Herodotus said this territory was the motherland of the god of war Ares and the north wind Boreas...

THE DNIESTER AS THE MUSEUM OF PEOPLES
Drifting down the river we are shooting a film about the past and the present of the lands it runs through. Our spectators will see the history of these lands from an unusual point of view, for everything too close often turns out to be the least known. I assure you that the Dniester is not less exotic than such rivers as the Nile, the Euphrates or the Huang He (the Yellow River).

MOLDOVA REFLECTED BY THE DNIESTER
Moldovans, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Russians, Ukrainians, Armenians, Poles – the Dniester’s banks have become a homeland, or a territory of life for many of them. That is why we will try to discover Moldova through the Dniester – through its enigmatic history, overwhelming landscapes and philosophy of people who live on its banks.

CLIMB OF THE ATHOS
...to get there one must have a visa, and it is not easy to get one. By the way, this visa can be later taken under the glass and hung in plain view as an official document of the pilgrimage to this Mecca of Orthodox Christianity...

Publishing initiatives

Our publishing series was founded in 1999 with the first published book by N.D. Russev «Na grani mirov i epoh» (On the Edge of Civilizations and Epochs). The series includes monographs and textbooks sharing a new, non-traditional view on cultural heritage and cultural continuity. The topics embrace history, archaeology and cultural anthropology.
